How To Use This Agreement
This page summarizes Bark & Blaze's standard service terms. Final client-specific details, emergency contacts, home-access instructions, and any required signatures or approvals may be collected separately during intake, booking, or onboarding.
Purpose
This Service Agreement governs the relationship between Bark & Blaze and the client booking services for one or more pets.
Services Covered
Services may include meet-and-greets, daily visits, weekend trail adventures, enrichment sessions, and other pet care services agreed in writing. Specific services, timing, pricing, and client instructions will be reflected in booking confirmations and client records.
Meet-And-Greet Requirement
New clients must complete a meet-and-greet before Bark & Blaze accepts the first paid booking, unless Bark & Blaze expressly waives that requirement in writing. Bark & Blaze may decline service if the pet, home access setup, or requested arrangement is not a safe or appropriate fit.
Client Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and current contact, address, emergency, and veterinarian information.
- Disclose known medical conditions, medications, injuries, reactivity, bite history, escape tendencies, and behavioral risks.
- Provide safe and reliable access to the home and promptly communicate any access changes.
- Maintain pets in a reasonably safe environment with appropriate food, water, supplies, and restraint equipment.
- Confirm that pets are current on legally required vaccinations and are otherwise appropriate for the requested services.
- Notify Bark & Blaze of any changes in health, behavior, or household conditions that could affect care or safety.
Bark & Blaze Responsibilities
- Use reasonable care in providing agreed services.
- Follow client instructions to the extent reasonably possible and safe.
- Make judgment calls based on animal safety, handler safety, weather conditions, and practical realities on the day of service.
- Use commercially reasonable efforts to secure the home after visits and provide visit updates.
Scheduling, Payment, And Cancellation
Payment terms, rates, cancellation windows, and rescheduling rules are those posted by Bark & Blaze at the time of booking, unless a different arrangement is confirmed in writing. Same-day cancellations may be charged in full and 24-hour notice is expected for refund-eligible cancellations or free rescheduling.
Weather And Safety Adjustments
Bark & Blaze may shorten, modify, or convert outdoor services to indoor enrichment when heat, cold, storms, air quality, environmental hazards, pet condition, or other safety concerns make the requested plan impractical or unsafe.
Home Access And Keys
Client authorizes Bark & Blaze to enter the property using the access method approved during intake. Bark & Blaze is not responsible for delays or failed entry caused by inaccurate, incomplete, or non-functioning access information. Bark & Blaze may charge for lockouts, extended wait time, or additional trips caused by access failures.
Leashes, Transport, And Trail Services
Pets will remain leashed or otherwise physically controlled unless the client and Bark & Blaze expressly agree otherwise in writing and it is lawful and safe to do so. If trail adventure services involve transport by vehicle, client must separately authorize transport and confirm that the pet is suitable for vehicle travel and trail-based activity.
Emergency Care
If Bark & Blaze reasonably believes a pet needs urgent medical attention, Bark & Blaze may attempt to contact the client and emergency contact, but may seek veterinary treatment without prior contact when circumstances reasonably require. Client remains responsible for veterinary expenses and related costs. A separate Emergency Veterinary Release should be completed as part of intake.
Aggression, Injury, And Unsafe Conditions
Bark & Blaze may stop or refuse services immediately if a pet presents a safety risk, if household conditions are unsafe, if a pet appears severely ill or injured, or if the client has failed to disclose material information affecting safety or care.
Photos And Visit Updates
Bark & Blaze may capture visit-related photos or videos for service updates. Bark & Blaze will not use client or pet images for public marketing without permission. Separate photo or media consent may be requested before any marketing use.
Limitation Of Liability
Bark & Blaze is not responsible for loss, damage, delay, injury, illness, escape, or death caused by undisclosed medical or behavioral conditions, faulty equipment, unsafe home conditions, acts of third parties, force majeure events, or inaccurate client instructions. Nothing in this agreement is intended to waive liability that cannot be waived under applicable law.
Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, client agrees to indemnify and hold Bark & Blaze harmless from claims, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from the client's breach of this agreement, inaccurate disclosures, or the behavior or condition of the client's pet, except to the extent caused by Bark & Blaze's own willful misconduct or non-waivable legal responsibility.
Governing Law
This agreement is governed by Virginia law unless applicable law requires otherwise.
Electronic Delivery And Signatures
If Bark & Blaze uses electronic intake forms, records, or signatures, those tools will be used only where the parties have agreed to conduct that transaction electronically. Client may request paper copies of intake documents if electronic completion is not preferred.
