Founded by Teferi Tesfaye, who has called Herndon home for the last 14 years, Bark & Blaze was built for busy dog owners who want reliable care, clear communication, and someone they can trust in their home.
Care starts directly with Teferi. That means the expectations, handling style, and communication are clear from the first meet-and-greet onward.
After 14 years in Herndon, this work is local by design. We know the area, the pace of life here, and what dog owners need when long workdays pull them away from home — including the data center professionals across Ashburn and Loudoun County who work rotating shifts and non-traditional hours.
That is why we created Shift Cover — visits starting as early as 5:30 AM and as late as 10:00 PM on Thursdays through Saturdays. If your schedule does not fit nine-to-five, neither should your dog's care.

We come to your home for a free 15-minute intro, meet your dog, review access, and make sure the fit is right.
Step 2
Choose the right service
After intake, approved clients can book weekday visits, Shift Cover visits, or weekend trail sessions based on their dog's routine, energy level, and your schedule.
Step 3
Get clear updates after every visit
Photos, notes, and a structured report tell you what happened, what changed, and how your dog handled the visit.
